In this two-hour interactive workshop, facilitated by Dean Spade, we will look at some common questions and stumbling blocks that emerge for people who are collaborating to build transformative change. This will include: what are the onramps that bring people into organizing for change? What discourages and encourages us to get involved in things we care about? How can we use what we know about this to help more people enter more deeply into collaborative work for transformation? How do the groups we are in create group culture that intentionally resists dominant culture? How do we redefine leadership together, departing from what we learn about "leaders" in dominant culture, so that we can build more horizontal, participatory ways of being together?
This workshop is appropriate for people with varying levels of experience working for change in groups. It may also be useful for people working together on a variety of creative projects.
